Remember when Forrest Gump gave the world that little gem that “stuff happens”? He was right. And I believe that sentiment can play out in many different areas of life.
One thing I have learned is that ruts happen. Sometimes you just get into a funk. The breaks don’t seem to go your way. You hear criticism 10 times louder than you do praise. Nothing seems to happen like you planned it. You know what I’m talking about. But one thing I am learning is that these times just happen. Bad days are just a part of the ebb and flow of life. And it is only these times that can help us appreciate when things go well.
This too shall pass, they say. And I believe it. Heck, I’m counting on it.
Sorry you’re feeling down. We’re here for you- good days and bad. May it pass quickly- you really don’t have the personality to be funky for too long. xoxox

I have been pondering this thought lately.
Could it be possible that there are times when being in “funkytown” is part of our ministry training?
That sounds counter productive at first to my ears too, but I wonder how I can truly say “I’ve been there” or “I know how you feel” when I am called to enourage or minister to someone who is in a funky place if I have never been there?
This idea has made me think of the rut as the marine’s “cruicible” run…maybe I don’t have to just push through it, but see it as a place to train and actively, intentionally experience it and have faith that God is going to use it somewhere down the line.
I am a LONG way from living this. Just a new thought on the age old funk.
