Some good change is in the air around here. I, for one, am hoping to change several things about myself and my ministry in the coming months and years. Here’s just a few:
*I want to get over the feeling that I am working against people that don’t agree with me. We are all on the same team. We all love the same Jesus.
*I am working hard to become as passionate about Bible study and reading as I am service projects. I want to read the Bible as an opportunity to learn more about the character of God and to better find my place in His majestic story.
*I desire to pray more. I want to be diligent and consistent about spending time with God in prayer. Not just talking either but listening. I have absolute faith he will speak if I am willing to sit and listen.
*I need to do a better job of loving the people at church and being with them. I still feel so pulled sometimes at church to see and visit with the most people possible and I don’t like that. I “see” everyone but feel like I don’t really “know” anyone. I want to focus in on people and really listen and be with them and not feel that rush to have to go see more people. Shaking hands and smiling does not equal ministering to them.
*Most of all, I want to feel like I know God better at the end of 2008 than I do now. Just like anything in life, I want to work hard and be diligent about being close to my Father. For too many years I have just hoped this was something that would happen but I know that it does not work that way. It is a journey but one we have to be willing to take. We can crawl, walk, or run and I am ready to put the time and effort into being the best that I can be to honor God and know Him more.
Keep running the race, brother.
I’m hoping to get pulled along in your jet stream.
